Travelers
are often delighted by the high caliber of bed and breakfast inns in Wilmington, which are
comparable to the finest inns anywhere. Most inns here occupy meticulously kept historic
homes. Some are as casual as a pajama party while others are steeped in Victorian
elegance. And innkeepers are typically knowledgeable about the area and will usually
assist you with directions and in making reservations for shows, meals, charters and golf
packages.
Bed and breakfast inns typically do not allow pets, smoking
indoors or very young children unless by prior arrangement. Most establishments accept
major credit cards and personal checks, especially for making payment in advance. Be aware
that cancellations, even when made with the required notice, may incur an administrative
fee, although you'll find most innkeepers in the region to be reasonable and fair. Also
note that many bed and breakfasts require a full weekend lodging during the Azalea
Festival and Riverfest (see our Annual Events chapter).
Price
Code
Since prices are subject to change without
notice, we provide only price guidelines based on per-night rates during the summer
("high season"). Guidelines do not reflect the 6 percent state and 3 percent
local taxes. Some inns offer lower rates during the off-season, but always confirm rates
and necessary amenities before reserving. It may also pay to inquire about corporate
discounts even if they are not mentioned in our descriptions. |
